The sudden strong sunlight makes me feel that summer has finally begun. Forecasts continue to be over 30 degrees Celsius, and I'm almost scared of the intense heat to come.
Shiho Hayazaki Tenten Hoshi Straight Glass ¥3,850 *Store limited
TSUCHI-YA Leather Coaster Hexagon (Mint Blue) ¥1,980
We are also receiving a steady stream of larger glasses from various artists in-store. These glasses will make your summer days a little more enjoyable. We carefully select each tumbler for its unique shape and color.
This year, we chose a straight shape for Shiho Hayazaki's glass. The popular Tenten Hoshi series features a pattern made by winding brass wire around the glass while it is still hot. The subtly shimmering brass enhances the beauty of the clear glass.
Glass Studio Maru Iwakuni Lotus Root Glass L ¥4,400
The lotus root glass tumbler, also popular for vases and chopstick rests, is characterized by its pale green color, reminiscent of lotus leaves. This natural hue is created by mixing ash from Iwakuni lotus roots, a specialty of Iwakuni City in Yamaguchi Prefecture where the studio is located. By utilizing lotus roots left in the fields, Glass Studio Maru creates gentle products that make the most of local materials.
Yuichi Yamazaki Mint Glass ¥3,960
TSUCHI-YA Leather Coaster Hexagon (Pistachio) ¥1,980
The refreshing mint glass, perfect for summer, has fine bubbles and a mint color that makes you want to drink carbonated drinks. Although colored glass is used, the subtle and soft hue does not interfere with the color of your drink. This is recommended for everyday use when you want to guzzle down a drink on a hot day.
Yoshihiko Takahashi Tsubu Cup L (Clear) ¥7,700
TSUCHI-YA Leather Coaster Hexagon (Mint Blue) ¥1,980
The Tsubu Cup, with its surface resembling water droplets, has the characteristic thinness and lightness of Yoshihiko Takahashi's work. Its charm lies in its simple yet playful lightness. I also drink tomato juice every morning from a Tsubu Cup, and it mysteriously brightens my mood.
The glasses introduced here are available at both the Asakusa and Ginza stores.
We hope that enjoying a cold drink in your favorite glass on a hot summer day will bring you a little comfort. Please come and find the perfect piece for yourself.
