Ryukyu Glass Studio Glass32
Okinawa's ocean and nature expressed through glass
Craftsman Mitsuru Gushiken has a deep love for the ocean of Okinawa. He creates glass works that bring out the best in the material and gently integrate into everyday life. It is said that glass production began in Okinawa about 100 years ago, and the manufacturing method using recycled glass was designated as a traditional Okinawan craft in 1998.
Jet black Ryukyu glass that fits into your everyday life
The glass, made from old Awamori bottles, is pale green in color. Gushiken-san developed the black Ryukyu glass with particular attention to detail. It immediately caught my eye among the familiar colorful Ryukyu glass. At TSUCHI-YA, we consider this to be the individuality of the maker, and have been introducing it to our customers since the store first opened.
It can be used for soft drinks as well as alcoholic drinks such as cocktails and highballs. It goes well with cold drinks. The black rim tightens the overall look.
