Kobayashi Glass Art Studio | Tokyo Crystal Glass | Cut Glass, Sagging (Kilnwork)
Founded in 1908, the studio's techniques are currently carried on by third-generation Yoshio Kobayashi and fourth-generation Kohei Kobayashi. In addition to intricate and lavishly patterned works, they also produce jewelry and create glass blanks using their original "sagging kiriko" (cut glass) technique. Kobayashi Glass Art Studio is one of the "Edo Kiriko" (Tokyo cut glass) workshops with a history spanning nearly 100 years. The studio is currently run by the third-generation Yoshio Kobayashi and the fourth-generation Kohei Kobayashi, and this glass was made by Yoshio Kobayashi. Yoshio Kobayashi is one of the leading figures in Japanese "Edo Kiriko," having received awards at the "Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition" organized by the Japan Crafts Council and having his works selected as gifts for former Russian President Gorbachev.
