Glass specialty store Why sake?
TSUCHI-YA aims to spread Japanese politeness to the world.
This has been conveyed through Japanese cut glass and glass crafts.
From 2023 Increasing number of customers from overseas In
People who run Japanese restaurants and sushi shops
I often come across opportunities for people to look for handmade sake cups and katakuchi cups to serve sake.
Therefore, it is attracting attention from around the world Japanese food and sake Through
I wanted to spread Japanese glass art to the world.
and, We have begun a new design for a sake bottle that is reusable and can be used as a water bottle after drinking.
Reusable label-less sake bottles
The bottle of "Junmai Daiginjo│Bisho" is Regalo 720
Manufactured by Yamamura Bottle Factory . The product being sold is an existing product of Kita Sangyo .
Its distinctive feature is its shape which tapers towards the mouth, making it highly difficult to produce.
I was fascinated by the beauty of the silhouette.
The sake you see in liquor stores and izakayas is bottled in these glass bottles .
Most of the packaging has a label with the brewery or the name of the sake.
but Because we aim to reuse,
Our goal was to create a bottle design that does not require a label.
*A weak adhesive quality label is attached to the back of the bottle.
The origin of the design is our popular product
The Bisho bottle design is a popular item in our store.
The prototype is the " Frosted Water Bottle ."
This is a Regalo 720 with a frosted finish on the entire surface.
This water bottle has a smooth feel.
Glass bottles and other recyclable resources have been used
A recycling system has been established and spread,
Instead of consuming ready-made glass products, we wanted to create something that could be used sustainably in our daily lives.
The project was planned based on the concept of Readymade Craft.
The first one is
" Frosted water bottle . "
For the second part, we also released an original glass pen made from the triangular shaft of the capillary tube used in the experiment.
For restaurants and customers who drink bottled water,
"I want a pitcher that won't ruin the atmosphere of the table."
In response to the voice
The frosted water bottle has become a popular item since the store opened.
Realized by hand Design
Frosting the bottles was a goal from the beginning.
This is because the contrast between the translucent and transparent surfaces makes the water Because I thought it would taste better.
but, Mass-produced frosting is done by immersing the bottle in liquid to make the entire bottle translucent, leaving the shape of the label visible.
It was common knowledge that it was not possible to mask something to make it semi-transparent.
There, I met a sandblasting glass artist,
I went around asking people to do the frosting by hand.
Even though it is technically possible, it is difficult because it would take too much time.
In the end, glass artist Erika Tada , who supported the project, agreed to take on the project .
The new color "Deep Sea" is an unknown non-standard product
Next, with beautiful glass The popular glass color "Deep Sea".
Normally, this color of Regalo 720 is not in circulation.
Yamamura Bottle Factory produces bottles in a variety of colors.
The production schedule for each color is set annually.
For example, when switching production from green to blue,
Color The deep sea is an intermediate color that is constantly changing.
Because the color keeps changing, it has never been used for mass-produced beverages, where bottles of the same color are required.
Yamamura Bottle Factory wanted to somehow utilize this and created a prototype.
What I saw in Kita Industry We are beauty Charmed,
I immediately asked for a new color for the water bottle.
Make your dining table beautiful with water bottles
When designing a sake bottle, it is important that it can be mass-produced.
Frosting the entire surface was unrealistic.
We decided to reverse the idea and frost only the label.
Mass production was commissioned to glass artist Saori Sekine .
As a result, the transparency of the glass and the presence of the label led to calls for it to be commercialized as a water bottle.
Currently, we are planning to make it into a frosted label bottle.
We will continue to use this "Readymade Craft" concept to add value to existing items by handcrafting them.
We want to continue spreading Japanese politeness to the world.
