From Friday, November 11, 2022,
Glass pens will be added to TSUCHI-YA's original product lineup.

The "Glass Pen Triangle" is made using the "burner work" technique, where glass is melted with a flame to form the barrel from a triangular cross-section glass tube, and then a nib is attached. There are three designs. "Kiriko" expresses fine stripe patterns through cutting. "Rasen" features delicate, even twists done twice without breaking. "Kiriko Rasen" is characterized by its latticework cut pattern and a knot-like twist in the center. Each piece is handmade, a masterpiece showcasing the artisan's skill.

"Triangular barrel that fits comfortably in the hand & hard glass that is lightweight and durable"

Practicality is also a key focus.
The triangular shape fits comfortably in the hand, making it easy to hold.
The material used is "borosilicate glass," a hard glass known for its lightness and durability, also used in laboratory equipment.
The smallest model weighs a mere 14 grams.

"Designed by a former Tsuchiya Kaban randoseru craftsman"

Yutaro Komazaki (27), a glass craftsman, designed the new "Glass Pen Triangle."He was originally a randoseru craftsman at Tsuchiya Kaban.
The "borosilicate glass" used for the new "Glass Pen Triangle" is difficult to process due to its hardness, making it a material rarely used for cut glass (kiriko). Komazaki anticipated that the cut surfaces would become smooth when polished by burner work, so he meticulously applied sharp cuts.
Komazaki states, "Leather is easily scratched, and glass is easily broken, so both must be handled with care. I want to apply the meticulous attention and careful handling I cultivated in randoseru manufacturing to the creation of glass implements."
