Local Cider Recycled Glass Exhibition

An exhibition of works by Nakamura Kazuya, who is active in Mie Prefecture, will begin on Wednesday, March 15th.
Learning from Ryukyu glass, which recycled Awamori bottles,
They are transforming empty bottles of the local Ise "Reproduction S-Cider" into beautiful pale green artworks.
There is something warm about these glasses and vessels.

"Nakamura Kazuya"
@kazuya__nakamura
Born in Ise City in 1978.
Attracted by the charm of Okinawa, he moved there alone.
When I tried out Ryukyu glass, I was impressed by the transparency of the glass,
Fascinated by the beauty of the glass, he became an apprentice at the glass studio "Seiten."
In 2010, he returned to his hometown and opened "Deku Kobo" in Ise.
The name of the workshop comes from the name of his beloved dog who accompanied him from Okinawa.

A warm, light green glass piece made from empty bottles

Nakamura Kazuya's works are made from recycled glass.
It has a warm light green color.
Futami-cho, Ise City, Mie Prefecture, known for its Meoto Iwa rocks.
In a workshop overlooking the sea, they
use empty bottles of the local Ise "Reproduction S-Cider" as raw materials.
Each piece is handcrafted.

In the glass industry, where there is a lot of division of labor, Nakamura Kazuya does all the preparation for creating his works himself, from sourcing empty bottles to cleaning, drying, and crushing them.
That's a lot of work.

The beauty and technology of recycled glass learned from Ryukyu glass

The reason why Kazuya Nakamura still chooses recycled glass is
It is located in Okinawa, where his glass making roots lie.
Okinawan glass craft, "Ryukyu glass," is made from recycled glass.
Charmed by the warmth of the craftsmanship, he became an apprentice at a local workshop.
He acquired the know-how to create glass using discarded awamori bottles.

He returned to his hometown of Ise in 2010.
We will be opening "Glassblowing Deku Studio."
Starting with the recycled glass technology learned in Okinawa,
Breathing new life into empty Ise local cider bottles,
A warm style was born.

What is the local cider "Reproduction S-Cider"?
