In August 2022, TSUCHI-YA opened on Kappabashi Dogu-gai, a street where food-related tools are gathered. We mainly stock transparent glass made by glass artists and Kiriko craftsmen.
In writing, we write TSUCHI-YA in capital letters, but in the logo it is lowercase, and the fonts for "tsuchi" and "ya" are different. This is because we want it to be read as "Tsuchiya," just like the name of our shop. The accent is different from that of Fujiya, Toraya, Nakamuraya, Kimuraya, and Tsuchiya Bag Manufacturing Co., Ltd. It's hard to convey, but it's something we want to focus on as the link between the two.

The symbol is based on the Tsuchiya family crest, "Mitsuishi." The various shapes of the vessels are expressed with circles, triangles, and squares. Doesn't it look like ice in a glass?
The light in front of the large window on the first floor is an original TSUCHI-YA pendant lamp. Glass artist Yoshihiko Takahashi created it for our store ahead of his new release. The lamps are arranged together in a symbolic shape and displayed in the store. This will be available for order in the near future. (You can choose from one of the shapes you like.) Look for the sign that says "Glassware and Crafts"! If you are in Kappabashi, please stop by.
