From Wednesday, March 26, the Asakusa Kappabashi Main Store will host the

"Yutaro Kijima Glass Exhibition."
We will be showcasing a large selection of his representative "Sakumon" series, which has been a signature product since TSUCHI-YA opened.
For this exhibition, we have prepared a wide range of items, including tableware and plates that enhance food presentations for restaurant customers, vases that brighten rooms and stores, and even lighting fixtures.

While the expression of "Sakumon" evokes coolness and stillness,
Mr. Kijima himself has a fun and warm personality when you speak with him.
This atmosphere is conveyed by Makiko Yoda, who works with him on his creative activities, and from the Seijusha Glass Studio, where his students attend.

The Seijusha Glass Studio, founded and presided over by Mr. Kijima, opened in 1996.
It is located in a quiet residential area within a scenic zone that preserves natural beauty,
and in spring, lovely anemones bloom all over the garden,
creating a wonderful space where time flows quietly and slowly.

When I first visited his studio to meet Mr. Kijima, I remember feeling very nervous due to his achievements and artistic style.
He welcomed us very warmly, and we ended up spending more time than expected.

He instructed all our staff in glassblowing, allowing us to discover the "joyful world of glassmaking."
Even now, despite his busy schedule with creation, exhibitions, and classes, he continues to guide us every time a new staff member joins.
He is one of TSUCHI-YA's trusted advisors who responds to our unreasonable requests with a smile, and he is a very important person to us.

The only theme that Mr. Kijima holds dear, "enjoyment," is also something TSUCHI-YA wants to cherish.
While they are tools for daily life and objects of beauty, we believe that this "enjoyment" felt by both creators and users is absolutely essential in craftsmanship created by "human hands."

Glasses not usually available at TSUCHI-YA will also be on display.
This exhibition will be enjoyable for those who want to appreciate the colors of drinks and for fans of Mr. Kijima.
