New Product│Kiriko Glass Pen

From Friday, November 11, 2022
Glass pens will be added to TSUCHI-YA's original products.

The "Glass Pen Triangle" is made from a glass tube with a triangular cross section, with the barrel made using a technique called "burner work," which involves melting glass with a flame, and then the tip is attached. There are three designs. "Kiriko" is made by cutting extremely fine stripes. "Spiral" is delicately twisted evenly twice to prevent it from breaking. "Kiriko Spiral" is characterized by a lattice-like cut glass pattern and a knot-like twist in the middle. Everything is made by hand, making it a masterpiece that shines with craftsmanship.

Each pen is a unique item carefully crafted by a craftsman. You can try it out at the Asakusa Kappabashi main store.

"Uses a triangular shaft that fits comfortably in the hand and hard glass that is lightweight and durable."

We also pay attention to practicality.
The triangular shape fits comfortably in your hand and is easy to hold.
The material used is borosilicate glass, a hard glass that is lightweight and durable and is also used for laboratory equipment.
The smallest model weighs just 14 grams.

"Designed by a former Tsuchiya Bag craftsman "

Glass craftsman Yutaro Komazaki (27 years old) was in charge of designing the new product "Triangle Glass Pen." He was originally a school bag craftsman at Tsuchiya Bags.
The new product "Glass Pen Triangle" uses borosilicate glass, which is a material that is not often used for cut glass because of its hardness, making it difficult to control the amount of force used when processing it. Komazaki carefully makes sharp cuts, assuming that the cut surface will become smooth when polished with a burner.
Komazaki says, "Leather is easily scratched and glass is easily broken, so both must be handled with care. I would like to apply the same attention to detail and careful handling that I developed in making school bags to the production of glassware."
