Flowing lines and delicate patterns engraved on transparent glass. Kiriko, the transparent glass, shines due to the refraction of light on the surface and the shadows of the cut parts. This pattern, which consists of regularly-spaced octagons, is called "Hakkaku Kagome", a representative pattern of Edo Kiriko. Kagome refers to the mesh of a bamboo basket, and it was named this way because the octagons look like the mesh of a bamboo basket. This product, which was created by Glass Studio Saihou, was devised by Haruki Ishizuka, a traditional Japanese craftsman who belongs to the studio. A traditional Japanese craftsman is a title given to craftsmen who have advanced and outstanding traditional skills and techniques, certified by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan. The gorgeously presented glass shines with a brilliance backed by high-level cutting techniques.

The studio is focusing on training young craftsmen, and currently has three traditional craftsmen on staff. They create works that fuse the old and the new by preserving "traditional patterns" while creating "modern patterns" through trial and error.
