The gleaming gold on the inside is silver that has undergone a chemical reaction.
By subtly adjusting the firing time, the silver, which normally turns black when heated, is finished at the precise moment it turns gold.

Since the silver overglaze will gradually change over time, you can enjoy aging, which is rare for glass.
