Kobayashi Glass Art Craft Studio | Tokyo Crystal Glass | Cut Glass, Sagging (Kiln Work)
Founded in 1908, the techniques are now carried on by the third-generation, Yoshio, and the fourth-generation, Kohei. They create intricate and luxurious all-over patterned pieces, jewelry, and even produce glass blanks using their original "sagging cut glass" technique. Kobayashi Glass Art Craft Studio is one of the "Edo Kiriko" workshops that has been operating for nearly 100 years. The third-generation, Yoshio Kobayashi, and the fourth-generation, Kohei, currently manage the studio, and this glass was made by the third-generation, Yoshio. Yoshio Kobayashi is one of the leading figures in Japanese "Edo Kiriko," having received awards at the "Japan Traditional Craft Exhibition" organized by the Japan Crafts Council, and having his work chosen as a gift for former Russian President Gorbachev.
