The challenge of a young staff member who became a glass craftsman
Mitsuo Kawahara, a staff member at "TSUCHI-YA" Asakusa Kappabashi Main Store.
In his fifth year since graduating, he is now a first-year student at a glass craft school.
On weekdays, he focuses on his creations at school, and on weekends, he stands in the store, conveying the appeal of the products.
Kawahara, who joined the Harizury Group because he resonated with their mission of "Onko-Soshin" (innovating from tradition), moved to TSUCHI-YA after working at Tsuchiya Kaban.
From bags to glass. While working as a sales associate across different genres, an encounter with a customer led him to embark on the path of a craftsman.
In this article, he talks about the richness of expression in Kiriko that completely captivated him, and the unexpectedly free nature of craftsmanship.
His driving force, as he fluidly navigates between the two worlds of sales and craftsmanship, stems from a bitter experience in Cambodia. This is his daily challenge to build a career that is true to himself.
