gla_gla Exhibition

From October 19th (Wednesday) to October 31st (Monday),
We are holding TSUCHI-YA's first special exhibition on the second floor of our Asakusa Kappabashi main store!

This time we would like to introduce you to the glass studio "gla_gla" located in Tsukiura, Lake Toya, Hokkaido.
From "gla_gla", which is known for its highly transparent glass grown in the northern land,
The three participants were Daisuke Takatomi, Ai Nagai, and Noriko Fujiwara.

Glass studio "gla_gla"
@gla_gla_tsukiura
They create and sell glass works and run a cafe on a hill in Tsukiura, on the shores of Lake Toya, an area rich in nature and also known as the setting for the movie "Happy Bread."
The works are created using a technique called "air blowing," in which glass is shaped in mid-air by blowing air into it. Each piece has a different texture and the amount of bubbles it contains, and no two are the same, which is what makes them so appealing.
At the workshop, you can also try your hand at glassblowing, where you can try your hand at creating an entirely original piece, from design to production.

A glass workshop located in Tsukiura, Toyako Town, Hokkaido.
This place is called Tsukiura because the moon floating over Lake Toya is beautiful.
I make glass while gazing at the moon.
The technique used is "air blowing"
The glass produced from the title is colorless and transparent, and is made freely without the use of molds.
Like a gentle breeze.
Like a light rain falling.
Like snow falling gently.
With poetry in hand,
The vessels are decorated with flowers and the installation is expressed through mass and sound.

We blow glass using a technique called "free blowing," which does not use a mold.
The reason we purposely change the shape of each piece is
To help you find the glass that suits you.
Like tailoring fabric, color matching, movement,
I create glass while feeling the texture.
With its irregular shapes, color combinations, and overlapping colors,
A single piece of glass that changes depending on the angle.
I hope you will enjoy looking at it from various angles, touching it, feeling it freely, and using it in your own way.

Noriko Fujiwara
Fujiwara's creations, such as the cute, round apple ornament "Ringo-chan" and the lovely "Weather Rain Glass" with colorful dots on transparent glass, are all things that will brighten your spirits when you use them.

Using a technique called "free-blowing glass," which does not require the use of molds, we create a variety of glass works, from small flower vases to large vessels and objects.
By adding bubbles, colorful colors and patterns to the clear glass, it creates the feeling of capturing a moment from everyday life.
The unique light reflection and glare that glass can provide adds color and sparkle to your everyday life.
By touching the soft shapes, you can experience a moment of calm each day with your eyes, hands, and mouth.
We create our products to fit into your daily lives.
This event will last for 12 days only.
Three wonderful glass vessels and crafts born in Hokkaido.
Please take this opportunity to come and see it!
