2005年，他在家鄉福岡市建造了一座熔爐。他的主要目標是創造出能夠「利用裂縫引起的光折射來提升飲料風味」的玻璃器皿。玻璃上的裂縫會隨著時間的推移而變化，從而形成耐熱玻璃。
